The Blizzarding Blowhog is an enemy in Pikmin 4. They serve as a supersized and more powerful version of the Snowy Blowhog, and are almost functionally identical. It also is directly related to the Titan Blowhog, the only other colossal member of the Blowhog family. The differences that they possess from their smaller counterparts is that their icy breath can now blow Pikmin backwards, which can create a very hostile situation when fought in Cavern for a King due to the appearance of many abysses.
Notes[]
Dalmo's Notes[]
"This creature blows out an unending gale of freezing, blizzard-like wings. Talk about lung capacity! With this hulking darling around, we could cool down those hot summer days in an instant. Although it does exhale carbonic acid. Maybe that's not such a good idea after all."
Olimar's Notes[]
"This specimen is actually a Snowy Blowhog, that lethal expeller of icy air. However, it's grown to a gigantic size thanks to an endocrine abnormality.
Unlike the Titan Blowhog, this condition does not sentence the Blizzarding Blowhog with a shorter life span. In fact, its life span is actually much longer than that of the average Snowy Blowhog.
The organs that produce the dry ice are also enlarged in this specimen, perhaps in order to make production more efficient."
Louie's Notes[]
"Scrape the interior of its elongated nose with a spoon for a quick dessert of meaty shaved ice. Add a drizzle of sashimi-grade soy sauce to take it up a notch!"
Battle strategy[]
For a speedy and safe defeat, it's best to use items such as Bomb Rocks or Lightning Shocks paired with Oatchi's Rush attack. However, if none of these are on hand, a Rush with several Rock Pikmin should ensure the safety of the battle. It's still very important to watch out for its breath, as it blows Pikmin back a considerably far distance, so making sure its snout isn't angled toward an Abyss is a good idea. Remember to whistle your Pikmin generously, as them getting bucked off would generally be bad. If none of these are applicable, one can go for a generally slower but safer defeat with Oatchi and the Player Character. If Oatchi is powerful, this is always the optimal method, but if not, there may be other ways. Choose your strategy wisely, and be sure to note the sheer danger of the Abysses that lay by it in Cavern for a King.
Trivia[]
- This enemy, alongside the Titan Blowhog, is the largest member of the Blowhog Family, just a bit larger than the imposing Puffy Blowhog.
