Character D was a character shown at the original E3 2012 presentation of Pikmin 3. However, since then, the game was revealed to focus on three captains, rather than four, and is not present in the final game.
Due to the other captains following the theme A for Alph, B for Brittany and C for Charlie, and the fact that the new ship is nicknamed Drake, some players have speculated that the title and possibly some character aspects of the scrapped Character D could have been given to the new ship.
Character D has also been speculated to be Alph's grandfather, due to the fact that the ship's name is S.S. Drake, which was named after his grandfather.
