Dwarf Frosty Bulborbs are a type of Bulborb with ice growing on their back, protecting them from threats. They first appear in Pikmin 4. A Dwarf Frosty Bulborb's skin is light blue with dots under the ice. Despite being a "dwarf" it is not a mimic unlike the Dwarf Red Bulborb and the Dwarf Orange Bulborb, which are mimicked by the Breadbug, but the juvenile form of the Frosty Bulborb.
Dalmo: "The ice crystals on its back are finely detailed and delightfully iridescent! As a juvenile of the species, it sometimes overproduces that sparkling layer of crystals. One of its parents will then snappity-crack away at the ice so it doesn't weigh the little one down. My heart melts when I see such loving family dynamics out in the wild."
Olimar: "Much like more mature specimens, the juvenile Frosty Bulborb is able to create ice on an epidermis that promotes extracellular freezing. However, they take an entire night to regenerate their ice, which is why they're often accompanied by adults. Juveniles display a smaller number of spots than the adults, causing some to believe that this was actually a species of mimicking Breadbug. However, the results of further analysis proved this was not the case."
Louie: "A sweet and savory meat that pairs well with a simple green salad."
Battle strategy[]
The Bulborbs should be fought largely like the Dwarf Red Bulborb. However note that this creature freezes any Pikmin that comes in contact with it. So use Ice Pikmin to defeat it swiftly, or have Oatchi charge at it (make sure Oatchi has frost protection first!).
