The Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat (コマンマン) is an enemy in Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 4. It resembles a large, blue, floating jellyfish with yellow spots that float through the air. It attacks Pikmin by inhaling them and trapping them inside itself. The Pikmin slowly become digested one by one over considerably long periods of time but can be saved by defeating it . This cnidarian is related to the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat.

Notes[]

Olimar's Notes[]

"This native jellyfloat is indigenous to the region. Unfortunately, it is currently endangered, as its habitat is being overwhelmed by hostile immigrant species."

Louie's Notes[]

"Similar in taste and texture to gelatin, this jiggling mass of jelly can be sculptured into all kinds of creative shapes. As a bonus, it also doubles as professional-grade hair gel. It's the perfect cool summer treat!"

Nintendo Player's Guide[]

"It may be slightly less dangerous than the Greater Spotted Jellyfloat, but the lesser of the species is still a major annoyance. By attacking the beast with tossed Pikmin you can weigh it down, then swarm it with the rest of your troops on the ground."

Battle Strategy[]

Whenever one of these is encountered, stay out of their path and then throw Pikmin at it. If it is above your Pikmin, the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat will begin to suck them up. If they are not dealt with in a reasonable amount of time, the Pikmin will gradually be digested. The best Pikmin to use are Purples, as their weight will easily drag them to the ground where they can then be stunned. Large numbers of other Pikmin will lower it as well, however, and a grounded Jellyfloat will still be able to shake any type of Pikmin off. Call them to avoid letting them lose their petals. When the Lesser Spotted Jellyfloat's health is fully depleted, it will spin and explode after a short period of time. Call your troops to avoid losing their flowers.

Trivia[]

  • If you listen closely, you can hear music coming from this creature. This can easily be heard in the Piklopedia.
  • This creature is similar to the Medusal Slurker in the fact that they have clear bodies and keep Pikmin trapped inside of them.
  • Besides its name, the game never acknowledges its ability to levitate, let alone explains it.
