Pikmin 3 Deluxe is an enhanced port of the of Pikmin 3 for the Nintendo Switch released in 2020. It is similar to the Wii U version, but with additional enhancements such as better graphics.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe was revealed via the Nintendo of America Twitter page, along with the release trailer, on Wednesday August 5, 2020. The release date was October 30th, and it was published on the Nintendo Switch.

Features[]

  • Ability to play with a friend in Story Mode (local mode on same system only)
  • Additional difficulty modes.
  • All Mission Mode downloadable content from the Pikmin 3 are included in the base game of Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
  • New "After Hours" mode in Mission Mode.
  • New side missions with Olimar and Louie, with Co-op included.
  • The return of the Piklopedia, with all five captains (Alph, Brittany, Charlie, Olimar, and Louie) sharing their thoughts on creatures.
  • Purple Pikmin and White Pikmin appear in Mission Mode.
  • Olimar's Log Vol. 2 replaces the Secret Files.

Difficulty differences[]

Pikmin 3 Deluxe is the first Pikmin game to introduce multiple difficulty modes. There are 3 difficulties:

Normal[]

  • The day's length is set to 18 minutes (was 13 in Pikmin 3 on the Wii U).
  • Enemies are notably easier and less powerful than in Hard difficulty.

Hard[]

  • It is a similar difficulty (if not identical) to that of Pikmin 3 on Wii U.
  • The day's length is set to 13 minutes.
  • The enemies have 2 times more HP than in Normal difficulty.

Ultra-Spicy[]

  • Unlocked when the story is finished on hard difficulty or when the demo is completed.
  • The limit of Pikmin on the field is now 60, rather than the 100 that every other Pikmin game/difficulty has known.
  • Fruits give 0.5x the juice compared to the other two difficulties.

Trivia[]

  • Following the announcement of Pikmin 4, an update was made for Pikmin 3 Deluxe that altered the thumbnail to resemble the Pikmin 4 logo.
