Pikpik Carrots

A few buried Pikpik carrots.

Pikpik Carrots are vegetables native to Captain Olimar's home planet, Hocotate. They are the reason Pikmin have their name, because Olimar believed that Pikmin resembled them. They look just like normal carrots, being orange, small-sized, and having long leafy parts, but they also have limb-like roots. Pikpik Carrots are seen in the in-game Piklopedia in Pikmin 2, and can be thrown at the Piklopedia's enemies/plants to see what reaction would occur, such as the creature moving or waking up, or eating, and attacking the carrots. Using Action Replay, it is possible to control them as if they were Pikmin. There are also miniature and regular size red, yellow, and blue varieties of Pikpik Carrots like the original three Pikmin. In Pikmin 3, Brittany mentions how she has tried Pikpik Carrots, although she thought they tasted horrible. She also states Hocotate is famous for their Pikpik Carrots.

Exclusively in Pikmin 2 is a variation of Pikpik Carrot, Golden Pikpik Carrots, which are completely golden and a little longer in size. They play a role in the game's plot:

Spoiler warning: Plot or ending details follow.

On one occasion, a precious shipment of more than x10,100 worth of Golden Pikpik Carrots were sent with Louie to be shipped somewhere, but Louie ate them and returned with a misleading report that a "space bunny" ate them, to avoid getting reprimanded, fired or sued.

Pikmin 2[]

Pikpik Carrot Pikmin appear in Challenge Mode of Pikmin 2, along with the Piklopedia. They appear if you give yourself the 7th number of Pikmin in Challenge Mode and they appear as normal Pikpik Carrots in the Piklopedia. They have a green glow, similar to Bulbmin. If they have a flower or bud, they will overlap with the model's leaf that is already there. They have look white in the ground.

Pikmin 3[]

Pikpik Carrot Pikmin return as an unused Pikmin type with an unused Candypop Bud. If they are thrown, they crash the game which does not happen in Pikmin 2, so it's best to charge or dismiss. Unlike Pikmin 2, they have got an amber glow. This time, they are orange in the ground. When they die, they have a white spirit. The colour of the carrying number is orange but the Master Onion doesn't produce anything.
