Pikmin 4 |
Foolix >> |
The Porquillion is a boss found in Pikmin 4. It is most notably fought in the tutorial of the game as Captain Olimar whilst riding Moss, but makes several more appearances as a miniboss in later areas.. It appears to be based off of a real-life porcupine, but has several differences to one as well. Its body under the needles appears to be somewhat insect-like, with two beady eyes and a relatively long snout. On top of that part of the creature, there is spiked armour that seems to be also part of its body, as it can harness the needles and has the ability to fire them off as a defence mechanism. However, after the needles are shot, it leaves that segment vulnerable to attacks, and the creature's last resort is a feckless attempt at bucking the Pikmin off.
Strategy[]
The Porquillion is a relatively easy boss. Simply wait until it fires a section or two of its needles at you, then charge Moss (or Oatchi) at it. All of your Pikmin will then latch onto it and begin attacking. Considering its low health, it shouldn't take more than two cycles of this before it is slain. However, when this beast is fought in Plunder Palace, or in the main story in Hero's Hideaway, it is on a high ledge, making the previous strategy unavailable. It's best to use Rock Pikmin to deal with it here, as they're immune to the spikes.
Notes[]
Dalmo's Notes[]
"When it cowers down to roll up, it looks like it's feeling lonely. If you get closer, the needles all over it's body become projectiles that it will launch at you. I can't help thinking this is just a plea for attention. It's OK, prickly bean! I'll be your freind!"
Olimar's Notes[]
"It's needle-covered armor is soft and quite exposed. Futhermore, it has a cowardly disposition, so when it senses even the slightest bit of danger, it shoots out it's spikes.
Regenerating new spikes requires a significant amounts of caloric energy, so this creature requires significant amounts of food. This likely explains why, when it scrounges through garbage, it sucks up not just the insects it finds but also the trash itself.
They have ingested a few of the S.S. Dolphin's parts, too, but those could never be mistaken for trash."
Louie's Notes[]
"Cut the meat into four even slices. Dip slices into a beaten egg, then dredge in bread crumbs. Fry over low heat."
