The Queen Shearwig is the boss of Leafswirl Lagoon, and the fifth boss of Hey! Pikmin. It is a much larger version of the Shearwig, but pink instead of green, and has drill-like mandibles. It has an army of Shearwigs, which often aid it in battle.
Notes[]
Hey! Pikmin Creature Log[]
"So, other creatures besides Pikmin will act as a unit... I could clearly see the queen giving orders and the soldiers coordinating their attacks. But the bond between me and my Winged Pikmin won out in the end! Teamwork is at its best when each member of the team has a deep understanding with the others."
Battle Strategy[]
Hey! Pikmin[]
The battle begins with the Queen Shearwig surrounded by its army. The player must throw Pikmin at the top of the screen to take the Shearwigs out. Once the player has defeated enough Shearwigs to clear a path to the queen, the player has to keep throwing Pikmin at it until it flies away. The queen returns with more Shearwigs lined up across the screen in groups of 3, then the queen would start spinning in place. The player shouldn't move but can defeat all of the Sherawigs descending towards the player. Then once the queen starts to come down, move to the far left to avoid taking damage from it. The queen would then surround itself with Shearwigs again and the player can repeat the same process as before. After the Queen Shearwig flies away the second time, the queen will return with more Shearwigs that will circle Olimar and his Pikmin while the queen spins in place again. The player must take out all of the Shearwigs quickly, then the player has to move out of the left once the queen starts coming down at them. Finally, it would repeat the first sequence one last time, where it would get defeated if it takes enough damage.

Trivia[]
- Interestingly, the Shearwigs are never logged as an enemy, despite being separate enemies to the Queen Shearwig. It may be because they only appear with the Queen.
- The Queen Shearwig might be considered the fourth boss in the Pikmin series to use other small enemies as helpers, the others being the Empress Bulblax, the Vehemoth Phosbat and the Scornet Maestro
- Despite the Piklopidia stating that female Shearwigs lack wings, the queen Shearwig has wings.
