The Rescue Corps is a group of 8 members (including their Rescue Pup, Oatchi} that is tasked with finding and rescuing Olimar and his crashed ship in Pikmin 4. All of the members except for the player crash as well, and the player must find and rescue them.
Spaceships[]
Main Articles: S.S. Shepherd & S.S. Beagle
There are two spaceships owned by the Rescue Corps, titled the S.S. Shepherd and the S.S. Beagle. The former is larger and looks moderately similar to a common spaceship on Earth, but the latter is much smaller and is similar to Pikmin 2's Research Pod. It is possible that they can merge, as a chimney-like spout resides on the top of the S.S. Shepherd, and there's a chance that the S.S. Beagle can fit into it and ride alongside its larger counterpart.
Crew Members[]
Captain[]
Main Article: Erma Shepherd
Erma Shepherd is the Captain of the Rescue Corps. She is known for her productive personality, but has also shown cowardice in times of danger. She is also the owner of Oatchi, the Rescue Pup.
Communications Operator[]
Main Article: Collin
Collin is the Communications Operator of the Rescue Corps. He has a generally passive and normal personality, and tends to get excited at times. He is the first castaway found in the game.
Science Officer[]
Main Article: Russ
Russ is the Science Officer of the Rescue Corps. He is considerably eccentric, and appears to be handy with a lot of technological items. He also owns the Lab, a shop where the player can go to buy various useful items.
Ranger[]
Main Article: Dingo
Dingo is the Ranger of the Rescue Corps, and therefore goes on explorations more than other members of the group. He appears to prefer going solo when venturing on PNF-404, and is not particularly nice, often being moderately tense and quick to anger.
Medical Officer[]
Main Article: Yonny
Yonny is the Medical Officer of the Rescue Corps. He is very eager and has a love for curing unusual cases, although sometimes goes a little too far.
Pilot[]
Main Article: Bernard
Bernard is the Rescue Corps' Pilot, therefore controlling the flight of the S.S. Shepherd. He is enthusiastic and passionate, often talking quite loudly.
Rescue Officer[]
Main Article: Player Character (Pikmin 4)
The Rescue Officer of the Rescue Corps is none other than the player themself. This character can be customized at the beginning of the game through an in-depth Player Character Customization screen. Unlike the rest of the Rescue Corps, this character's home planet is Karut, rather than Giya.
Rescue Pup[]
Main Article: Oatchi
Oatchi is the Rescue Corps' Rescue Pup. Having features similar to that of a Grub-dog, he walks on two legs, has a plump and bulbous body, and uses his mouth for most tasks. Unlike bulborbs or other Grub-dogs, he does not have eye stalks. He is owned by Erma Shepherd, the Captain of the Rescue Corps.
Trivia[]
- The the Shepherd family is the owner of the Rescue Corps, and Erma Shepherd is the 99th-gen Captain, implying that the organization has been in existence for quite some time.
