The Scarab Beetle family is a family of insect hybrids capable of producing, and releasing electricity from their bodies as a form of defense against predators and Pikmin. The primary Pikmin to use on Scarab Beetles are Yellow Pikmin.
Anode Beetle[]

The Anode Beetle are small, black, yellow-spotted beetles found in numerous underground areas throughout Pikmin 2. A sociable bug, they're often found in groups from two to six, as they're capable of creating a electric barrier between two individuals by the means of electrical release, which for the beetles is a form of communication. This effect doesn't work if one is alone though, and its hard shell means that it can't be harmed unless flipped over. It is also the namesake for the species, and representative of the hybrid insect group.
Widemouthed Anode Beetle[]

Widemouthed Anode Beetles are a species of Scarab Beetle found primarily in the underground caverns in Verdant Waterfront of Hey! Pikmin. It appears similar to a standard Anode Beetle, but is solitary, and sports a fanged mouth which it'll use to actively eat its prey. While not able to make a barrier, it is able to create a light due to its electricity on its body to electrocute its prey.
Electripede[]

The Electripede is a multi-segmented species of Scarab Beetle, found underground in the Sweltering Parchlands. It is capable of emitting a powerful charge of electricity as its main form of defense against predators, and is able to crawl along walls and ceilings.
