Pikmin 4
#24 (Cavern for a King)

Ancient Sirehound >>

The Toxstool is a new boss in Pikmin 4. It is similar to the Puffstool, but its spores are toxic. It will resurrect dead enemies and cause new mushrooms to grow. Its defining appearance that separates it from the Puffstool is its white body, blue cap, and light-blue spots on its cap. It can be found on the first sublevel of Cavern for a King.

Strategy[]

Note: The following part(s) of the article is a strategy (or strategies); therefore, it is highly subjective, meaning it may not work for everyone.

The Toxstool only appears once - in the first sublevel of Cavern for a King. It is encountered on a very little arena filled with poison enemies and toxic mold. The Toxstool itself attacks by using its poisonous gas to poison Pikmin. It is highly recommended to use mainly White Pikmin for this fight, before targeting the Toxstool itself. It is recommended to get rid of the normal enemies that are around the sublevel first, since they could kill your Pikmin without you noticing, however due to the Toxstool's ability to revive enemies and create more mold, this may not be a good option. If you decide to kill the regular enemies, make sure to retrieve the bodies and bring them to the S.S. Beagle, so the Toxstool doesn't have a chance to revive them. You can fully target the Toxstool with a squad of White Pikmin, or you could just fight with your whole entire squad to kill it faster, however, this is more dangerous.

Notes[]

Dalmo's Notes[]

"See how it toddles and bounces on its wee little footsies as it goes for a stroll, scattering extremely toxic spores along the way? This creature is a walking nuisance. But there's an odd kind of charm in that bothersome nature that makes it hard to leave alone."

Olimar's Notes[]

"Much like the Puffstool, the Toxstool is neither animal nor fungus but a mix of the two, or an Ambulofungus. It doesn't serve a producer or consumer role in the ecosystem, but functions instead as a decomposer.

It primarily parasitizes other living organisms by blanketing them with its spores. However, the Toxstool ca infect a deceased specimen as well. Its hyphae are able to move the muscles and control the body as if bringing it back from the dead.

The way the fungal filaments grow differs based on the host organism. In some cases, they may cause the hosts to wander around in search of food to facilitate a more nutrient- rich fungal-culture medium. They can also just use the host as a means to scatter more spores."

Louie's Notes[]

"Bury underground for about 40 days so the poison can leech out. Its smell will make you gag, but the flavor has notes of chocolate!"
